Mirko Đurić, member of Smederevo City Council, said the distribution of mineral compost worth 4.3 million dinars, given to the farmers from the European Union funds within the programme “EU Assistance to Flooded Areas in Serbia.”

The delivery of lambs and kids to 121 farming households, funded by the European Union, is completed. Each livestock producer received seven lambs with pedigree (one mail and six female) so farmers can continue to breed sheep with pedigree and enlarge their herds; also these high quality lambs will be used for milk and cheese production. Thank to the EU support, total of 874 lambs is delivered to Serbian flood affected farmers.

More than 35,000 Serbian citizens who have endured consequences of May 2014 catastrophic floods, now enjoy better living, educational, working and earning conditions thanks to EU’s assistance worth EUR30 million.

The photo exhibition “The Year of Reconstruction” about the EU support to the flood affected areas is organised on Savsko šetalište, Kalemegdan 5-12 May 2015 as part of the Europe Week. The human interest stories show how the European Union’s support changed lives of common people affected by the floods in May 2014, through construction and reconstruction of family houses, reconstruction of public buildings, support to agriculture producers, micro and small enterprises.
