In 2016, Serbia and the European Union have marked the anniversary – 15 years of development assistance to Serbia, by organising a range of events for the benefit of Serbian citizens: Since 2001, Serbia has benefited from more than EUR3 billion in non-refundable grants from EU pre-accession funds. Financial assistance has been spent on programmes and projects in Serbia which fostered development and concrete reforms and brought benefits to citizens in many areas – from health and rehabilitation of infrastructure, to environmental protection and education.
