Slovakia is among EU Member States that have lent support to Serbia in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic and today, that support arrived in the form of 5,000 protective coats, 247 packages of hygiene items, 15,000 PCR tests and five accumulators.
This is a donation made through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Apart from the contents of donation, the European Union partially financed the transport costs, as well
The donation will be officially handed over by Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korčok.
Germany also lent support for Serbia in the form 45,000 litters hand disinfectant and 970 litres of hard surface disinfectant.
In late December 2020, France donated five 10-litre generators to Serbia via the Civil Protection Mechanism in addition to five oxygen extractors, five flow valves, five oxygen cannulas, 200 high-concentration oxygen masks and 200 low-concentration oxygen masks.

What is Civil Protection Mechanism?
EU Civil Protection Mechanism facilitates cooperation in disaster preparedness, prevention and response. Serbia became a full-fledged member of the Mechanism in 2015.
At the request of Serbia, the Mechanism was activated during the coronavirus pandemic. Thanks to the Mechanism, Serbia received medical eequipment, lab material, personal protective equipment, while one of the moree substantial deliveries included 10,000 masks from the EU’s emergency medical supply RescEU.
