Member States have taken many initiatives in recent years, but the results are uneven and more should be done to prevent and punish corruption. These are some of the conclusions from the first ever EU Anti-Corruption Report published today by the European Commission. (76%) of Europeans think that corruption is widespread and more than half (56%) think that the level of corruption in their country has increased over the past three years.

At the Security Conference that starts today in Munich, key actors: High Representative Ashton and Prime Ministers Dacic and Thaçi will talk about this topic.

Minister Branko Ruzić welcomed the recently adopted EESC opinion on the Role of Civil Society in EU-Serbia Relations and mentioned that its recommendations were “constructive and useful for Serbia and its society at large”.

Both Russia and the European Union have much to gain by strengthening our cooperation as strategic partners – but for this to be successful, we need mutual understanding and strategic trust, said President Barroso.

Around 51 percent of Serbia`s citizens would vote in favour of Serbia`s accession to the Union. Great number of citizens, 68 percent, believes that the reforms necessary for accession of our country to the EU should be carried out even if they were not condition for membership, but for benefit of citizens themselves.
