EU flood relief weekly update

The reconstruction of additional 101 houses in Obrenovac, Smederevska Palanka, Čačak, Ub, Koceljeva, Jagodina and Paraćin is underway, due to the European Union support to the most vulnerable families who were not able to rehabilitate their homes, after the floods in May 2014.

Round Table On Asylum Seekers Held In Belgrade

Within the Project Support to the implementation of strategies for IDPs, refugees and returnees – legal aid the Round Table on asylum seekers from Serbia in Western Europe was held on 16 March in Belgrade, at the Palace of Serbia. More than 40 representatives of state institutions, international organizations, local authorities and NGOs attended the event.

EU flood relief weekly update

Distribution of maize seeds to the flood affected agriculture producers started this week. Each producer who applied for maize receives two sowing units to complete spring sowing. This package also includes 400 kilograms of mineral fertilizer which is also delivered this week. Maize sowing season starts by the end of March, so the assisted farmers are fully provided for sowing.

Twenty-six flood affected milk producers from Bajina Bašta, Kosjerić, Kraljevo, Lazarevac, Loznica, Obrenovac, Šabac, Svilajnac, Ub and Valjevo will receive milking equipment starting 23 March 2015 to restore their agriculture activities. This type of support will enable milking producers to upgrade their production processes at the same time obliging to safe production requirements of the European Union.

EU flood relief weekly update

Distribution of barley seeds for spring cropping season to 1,531 flood affected agriculture families is completed on 2 March 2015. Each family received 200 kilograms of barley seeds which makes total of 306.2 tons. Distribution of mineral fertilizer for 7,763 producers starts on 6 March 2015.

One year since the formation of Roma inclusion teams

In one year of their existence, 20 local mobile Roma inclusion teams, have facilitated enrolment of 600 Roma children in preschool institutions across Serbia, while over 749 procedures for delayed birth certificates were initiated. In 2014/2015 school year, Roma pupils obtained 535 scholarships, and according to the announcement, additional 475 will be provided.
