The European Union has continued to provide relief to May’s flood affected areas in order to help people recover as much as possible ahead the forthcoming winter. Through EU Assistance for the Flood Relief in Serbia Programme and its partners, thousands of Serbian families will receive aid starting from next week, in addition to those who have already received it.
The Public event on “Parliamentary transparency” will be held on 29th September 2014 at 10.00 at the House of the National Assembly (13 Trg Nikole Pasic, Hall 2). The event takes place within the European Union (EU) funded Twinning Project “Strengthening Capacities of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in the EU Integration Process”.
European Union Information Point in Novi Sad (EUIP), in cooperation with Cycling union of Vojvodina, Cycling club Fruskogorac and Novi Sad city authorities, took part in the Ecological transport promenade and Cycling parade along the city streets.
Within the European Mobility Week organised in Nis for the 13th time in a row, EU Info Point Nis arranged the very first cyclists parade, attended by over 400 citizens.
Trg Republike in Belgrade hosted the opening of exhibition of most successful children drawings within the “Green Ideas for Our City” contest, marking the European Mobility Week aimed at reducing car use and promoting cycling and other alternative means of transport.

Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport toured the construction of water supply line in Veliko Gradiste and the reconstruction of Golubac Fortress on the Danube, two projects funded by the EU from pre-accession funds with EUR11 million.

Within the European Union program supporting recovery of floods affected areas in Serbia, Danish Refugee Council (DRC) facilitates the reconstruction of 170 individual housing objects affected by recent floods, the installation of 14 prefabricated units, the provision of 184 basic household appliances and furniture sets for the most vulnerable households, as well as the reconsolidation of 54 business activities of small and micro enterprises (with the co-applicant Eneca) in seven targeted municipalities.

Suppression and fighting against illegal migrations and cyber crime in Serbia are important not only to the EU, but are key among Serbia’s efforts to join the EU, benefiting Serbian citizens in the long term, said Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport at the closing ceremony of Twinning project on establishing an efficient system of illegal migration fighting and suppression, financed by the EU with EUR1 million.
