On 8 September, Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Serbia Holger Schroeder and Head of Operations III Richard Maša toured the construction site where a new facility for Bujanovac department of Faculty of Economics in Subotica is being built. The construction is funded by the EU with contributions from Swiss and Serbian governments through development programme European PROGRES.
The EU Delegation is ready, at the request of the Serbian Government, to provide approximately € 400,000 to help prepare temporary accommodation for refugees in Belgrade. An NGO partner to manage this project has already been identified.
Yesterday, Austria received €5 million under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), following a request made at the end of July, to increase the reception capacity for a total of 1.270 newly arrived asylum seekers, as well as to increase the administrative capacity to deal with increased asylum claims.
