Environmental protection enters school curricula in Italy

How do solar and wind parks work? Why is it good that I do sort waste? As of the autumn of 2020, children in Italy have been receiving answers to these questions from their teachers and experts, within the mandatory school programme starting from the early level – in kindergartens. Read what the Minister of Education of Italy Lucia Acolina says about it, as well as what is the experience shared by school principals in Vicenza, Rome and several other Italian cities in an article by RTS journalist Maja Stojanović written within the Pulse of Europe – Media Trips to EU project. The full article is available here. The author has also researched how the awareness on the need of environmental protection is raised among pupils in Serbia and what is the contribution of the non-governmental sector to the process. Elementary school “Vožd Karađorđe” in Leskovac has been labelled “Eco-school” back then in 2015. This means that the school organises educational courses for pupils, parents and employees on how to adopt good habits and raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment.
