On the European Day of Remembrance of Victims of Terrorism, March 11, First Vice-President Timmermans, High Representative Mogherini and Commissioners Avramopoulos and Jourová said in a joint statement that the EU would remain committed to support the victims and their families, but also determined to make sure that no community feels excluded from the European society.

Gender equality is part of the European Union’s DNA, but it is still a lot to be done in this regard, top EU officials said in a joint statement.
At the informal meeting (Gymnich) EU’s Foreign Affairs Ministers discussed Libya and Ukraine, but also met their counterparts from the candidate countries and discussed the review of the European Neighbourhood Policy, High Representative for Foreign Policy and Serucity Affairs Federica Mogherini said.

Ahead of International Women’s Day (8 March), the European Commission is reaffirming its commitment to tackle gender inequalities across the EU. According to new Eurobarometer statistics, a large majority of citizens (76%) believe that tackling inequality between women and men should be a priority for the EU.

Distribution of barley seeds for spring cropping season to 1,531 flood affected agriculture families is completed on 2 March 2015. Each family received 200 kilograms of barley seeds which makes total of 306.2 tons. Distribution of mineral fertilizer for 7,763 producers starts on 6 March 2015.

In one year of their existence, 20 local mobile Roma inclusion teams, have facilitated enrolment of 600 Roma children in preschool institutions across Serbia, while over 749 procedures for delayed birth certificates were initiated. In 2014/2015 school year, Roma pupils obtained 535 scholarships, and according to the announcement, additional 475 will be provided.

After last spring’s record rainfall in Southeast Europe, Serbia watched historic floods submerge towns and overrun the countryside. Rural villages and farms took the brunt of the impact, as high water and landslides drowned livestock, destroyed crop seed and animal feed supplies, and washed away newly sown fields along with the hard work of the spring planting season.

The measures consist in an asset freeze on persons subject to initial investigations on the embezzlement of Ukrainian state funds, including former President Viktor Yanukovych. The Council has adjusted the sanctions to take account of progress in these judicial proceedings.

Apart from the assistance in tackling consequences of floods, EU will support Serbia in preventing and disaster risk reduction, said Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport at the presentation of National Disaster Risk Management Programme.
