Strengthening of the capacities of civil society organisations in terms of taking an active part during creation and implementation of local Roma policies is among activities of the project “We Are Here Together – European Support for Roma Inclusion,” funded by European Union and implemented by OSCE Mission in Serbia.

Reconstruction process on houses for 546 families in 21 municipalities mostly affected by the floods started this week. The reconstruction, funded by EU with over five million euros, is being conducted in phases according to the plan respecting priorities, so the construction works may start in some houses earlier than in the others.
How are the waste batteries and accumulators managed in the EU Member States and how to deal with it in Serbia were the topics of a workshop held within EU-funded PLAC project aimed at supporting Serbia’s preparation for EU accession by improving policy and legislation processes.
Within the European Union program supporting recovery of floods affected areas in Serbia, Danish Refugee Council (DRC), together with co-applicant ENECA will facilitate in this phase the reconstruction of 43 individual housing objects affected by recent floods, the installation of nine prefabricated units for the families most severely hit by floods in Paracin. The value of the works is more than EUR 365.000.
Serbian Association for Promoting Inclusion (SAPI) is implementing the EU Delegation-funded project through self-advocacy to better realisation of rights of persons with disabilities in Serbia, in partnership with association Na pola puta (Half Way There) from Pancevo, Inclusive Centre from Novi Sad, and Association for Assistance to Persons with Down Syndrome.
In the last two years, European Union donation worth 30 million euros supported the modernisation of infrastructure in 27 faculties in all five public universities in Serbia, according to the closing ceremony of the EU HETIP project, held in the Rectorate of the University of Belgrade.
The EU Ambassador Michael Davenport and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić marked the beginning of the reconstruction of private houses in the Village of Jamena, Šid. This will include the construction of 13 houses (five prefabricated and eight solid), the reconstruction of 22 private houses (including material and works), basic furniture and appliances for all houses. The reconstruction is funded through the EU Assistance for Flood Relief in Serbia Programme with some 560,000 Euros.
EU have allocated 620.000 euros for the renovation of facilities damaged during the floods, compensation of damage in agriculture and recovery of agricultural production in the Municipality of Sid, as well as the construction of 13 new houses and reconstruction of additional 22 in the village of Jamena that belongs to the municipality, said Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport visiting this village, severely hit by May floods.
Serbia is moving toward an important stage within the process of European integration with its Parliament facing a difficult task of aligning legislation with EU regulations, a heavy burden for the National Assembly of Serbia, which makes the strengthening of its capacities very important, said Oskar Benedikt Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia at the closing conference of Twinning Project “Strengthening capacities of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in the EU integration process”, that he described as “very successful.”
The book “European Mosaic” written by Lithuanian Prof. Dr. Gediminas Vitkus was presented to the public in Novi Sad by EU Info Point there, a day after its premiere at Belgrade Book Fair. Prof Vitkus, Head of the Department of European Studies of the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of the University of Vilnius, attended the Novi Sad presentation held at the European Corner of Novi Sad City Library . Thus audiences in Novi Sad had a chance to hear and meet the author of the book published for the first time in Serbian language.
