Closing conference of the project “Make a Difference – New System of Market Surveillance” will be held on Thursday, 11 December 2014, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, organised by Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and EU project Strengthening of the Serbian system of market surveillance for non-food and food products
On 11 December 2014, the conference “EMAS III – The most credible environmental management system–also for organisations in Serbia. Final Event” will be held at the Chamber of Commerce, Conference hall, 2nd floor, Terazije 23, Belgrade, starting at 09.30 h. The Conference is organised by the EU funded project “Law Enforcement in the field of Industrial Pollution Control, prevention of Chemical Accidents and establishing the EMAS system”.
Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia awarded new twenty-two grants to the civil society organisations (CSOs) in the overall value of 2,4 million of EUR within the framework of the programme EU Civil Society Facility 2013.
Association for Creativity Development from Aleksinac, in charge with implementation of three projects in the field of respect for human rights and reduction of discrimination towards marginalised groups, two of which are EU-funded, marked the International Human Rights Day – 10 December.
Within the project “We Are Here Together – European Support for Roma Inclusion”, funded by the EU with 4,8 million euros, 25 Roma students have received scholarships that will facilitate their education and reduce the drop-out rates among Roma children.
The reconstruction of 216 private houses in Krupanj, Obrenovac and Kraljevo is completed so far. The process of reparation and construction of private dwellings is underway for some 600 families throughout 24 municipalities mostly affected by floods. Depending upon the weather conditions, the completion of this intervention is expected in December 2014 – January 2015.
Over the course of December 2014, construction, adaptation and extension of building of the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad will be completed, providing professors and students with brand new 1.500 square metres of useful work space, including a reading room, two equipped IT classrooms, and 14 professor cabinets. Within the EU HETIP project, European Union have invested over one million euros into this particular institution of higher education.
More than 200 micro and small businesses in 24 municipalities mostly affected by the floods were selected to receive support through income generating activities. In the next period, these entrepreneurs will receive construction material to reconstruct their facilities, as well as equipment and process material to restore the production.
Association for Development of Children and Youth – OPEN CLUB from Nis organises in the premises of Media Centre a round table titled “Peer violence in schools in Nis and Vidin”, within the project “Peer Mediation Centres”, co-funded by the EU through a Bulgaria-Serbia IPA cross-border programme.
Head of the European Union Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport and Director of Government Office for Reconstruction and Flood Relief Marko Blagojevic, visited the construction works in Paracin, carried out on houses of families whose homes were destroyed in May 2014 floods. Through EU Assistance for Flood Relief in Serbia Programme, the EU have allocated some 1.057.000 euros for the reconstruction and construction of a total of 57 damaged houses, reconstruction of two high schools and support to 660 agricultural producers.
