Davenport: EU will always be on the side of freedom of expression
“Any democratic society striving to become a EU member should not censor or put the freedom of speech under pressure, but it should ensure the existence of such a public space, in which other stakeholders, individuals or organisations do not put the freedom of speech of others under pressure either,” said Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport, addressing the participants of the “Blog open-blog closed” conference.
Workshops for youth within the EU-supported civil society project
Within the 2014/2015 Unpacking programme, Belgrade Centre for Human Rights and ApsArt Centre for Thetre Research in cooperation with 12 Serbian youth offices organise two-day workshops for youth, “Explore and show your community”. This project is among some twenty EUR2 million EU-funded projects, within the “EU support to civil society” programme.
Kosovo elections “step forward in consolidation of democracy”: Ashton
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security policy Catherine Ashton congratulated Kosovo voters on the elections assessed by EU monitors as ones that “took place in an orderly manner,” saying the polls were “a step forward in consolidation of Kosovo’s democracy.”
Serbia and EU sign the IPA 2013 financial agreement
Minister in charge with European integration Jadranka Joksimović and Director of the Directorate for Enlargement Jean Eric Paquet signed the 2013 Financial Agreement, which implies the transfer of EUR197,2 million to Serbia, as well as management of the EU pre-accession funds (IPA).
